Injury Prevention
Kokiri Marae have provided injury prevention services for the past several years. The service has been designed to meet the identified needs of the Hutt Valley community.
Earlier contracts have included a:
- Whanau Road Safety Belt programme which looked at increasing safety belt use amongst whanau in the Hutt Valley
- Safer Vehicles for Whanau, hapu and iwi provided a training programme covering; buying and selling a car, driver license, child restraints, safety belts and airbags, maintenance of the vehicle
- Tamariki Safe Te Kohanga Reo and the Maori community to adopt kidsafe behaviours that have proven to be effective
- Carseat Rental Scheme – Whanau are provided with an infant seat for 6 months – 1 year old, dependent on the size of your tamaiti. The cost of the seat is $200.00, you have the choice of paying this amount in full or paying by automatic payment. When baby grows out of the infant seat, we give you the Child Seat to keep. The money you pay towards the infant seat covers the cost of purchasing a new Child Seat which ends up belonging to you
