ServicesFoster CareKokiri Marae has been a Level 1 Child & Family Support Service under the Children, Young Persons & Their Families Act 1989 since 1993 and provides placement within Māori homes for tamariki Māori who have been removed from their homes by the Child Youth & Family Service. Only social workers from the Department of Child Youth & Family can make referrals to this service. Kokiri Marae utilises a pool of whānau caregivers who make their homes available to care for the tamariki removed by Child Youth & Family. The care of tamariki placed in the caregiver’s home is a whānau position involving the whole whānau who are supported in their role by Kokiri Marae. We are constantly searching for appropriate homes for tamariki within Māori whānau in the Hutt Valley. Would you like to be a caregiver? If so, contact Lizzie Raukawa on (04) 564 1338 for more information.
