1993 - Submission to MOE for establishment of a Kura Kaupapa Maori. |
| 1987 - Waiwhetu whanau gains 30 hours instruction in Te Reo Maori per week at Waiwhetu School. |
Jan 1995 - Te Ara Whanui Private School commences at Kokiri Marae Seaview with 100% instruction in Te Reo Maori. Community funded. |
| 1989 - Whanau gain 50% instruction in Te Reo maori at Waiwhetu School. |
